Weight Loss & Overall Health Having just completed my first six months of practice at Bikram Yoga Bend many aspects of my health have dramatically improved. Not only have I lost thirty-five pounds of fat, I have added tremendous muscle mass increasing endurance, flexibility and range of motion. My cardiovascular system feels fitter and an old shoulder injury has finally healed. Chronic lower back pain is no longer a part of my life, nor is acid reflux. My sleep is more peaceful and my overall disposition is a bit more merry. To top it all off, I'm even one inch taller! For anyone looking for a sure fire way to improve ones health, I cannot recommend a better place to start than Bikram Yoga Bend. Any age, any size, this practice does not discriminate. Students are encouraged to simply do the best they can. And this can and will vary from day to day. The hot studio welcomes people of all levels of ability and the group camaraderie bolsters both beginners and personal accomplishments. So check it out, life's better with Bikram Jill H. Age: 50 Breast Cancer Survivor Here it goes: I have been going to Bikram Yoga for almost three years and I have yet found the words to describe my experience. Maybe there are not words in our language for the fusion and joy I feel in the physical, mental and spiritual parts of my being during and after class. Every class is different for me; always challenging, always rewarding. I am not an elite athlete, not even exceptionally physically fit but I have not ever felt incapable or overwhelmed by Bikram Yoga. Indeed, while undergoing chemotherapy and radiation two years ago, the heat and physical movement involved at Bikram's was a saving grace for me. I did what I was capable of and it was always a surprise to me just how much more I was capable of than I believed when first walking into the studio. I have attended other yoga classes, which I enjoy, but the heat and flow of Bikram's allows my body to move and receive maximum benefit of the posture in a way I have not found duplicated elsewhere. The teachers are incredibly encouraging and the fellow students are always a delight. Thanks to all of you many times over. Deb M. Age: 54 Outdoor Warrior - Top 10 Reasons Why I do Bikram You got me thinking this morning when I rushed into class and you asked me "What are you doing here?" Well... for the next 90 minutes several reasons popped into my head. They may not make David Letterman's top 10 reasons for bending at Bikram, but I thought I'd share them with you anyway. Why I do Bikram: 1. To be present with my body, honor it, and care for it. Bikram postures are a great inventory for every part of me. 2. To be with my breath. 3. To not have to talk for 90 minutes. 4. To become stronger - physically, mentally, spiritually 5. Because I want to get my money's worth - which by the way, is so worth it to me to have the instruction that you, Tricia, and Kathy provide. 6. To celebrate the healing that has and is taking place with my body (neck, ankles, nerves, hips, back are just a few past injuries....) 7. To participate in the energy of all the people in the room. 8. Because I always feel so good when I finish 9. To see that I can always improve, but be pleased with myself for trying no matter how far I am in the posture. 10. It's something completely different from running, biking, and swimming and I like to sweat. No doubt, you agree with me on some of these, but I thought I'd take the time to share. See you again some time this week. Connie A. Age: 39 Click Here for Additional Testimonials
